The quote is from The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, and I’d been itching to do a drawing inspired by that book. All of you should probably be reading that book right now, not looking at my art blog. Since you’re already here, though, I’d like to say that (1) Prismacolor pencils are such a time-consuming pain in the butt, but oh so worth it in the end and (2) this looks so much smoother and brighter in person, but I did my best with the scan.
I used a few different refs just to get a rough idea of what the pyramids and camels look like, then didn’t look at them again… but the composition ended up looking very similar to this image: http://traveler.nationalgeographic.com/2007/11/48-hours-guide/cairo-pyramids.jpg
